emeraldBLUE & Kitsch Coffee Bar presents the hard-hitting two act play Cock and Bull Story, by Richard Crowe and Richard Zajdlic.
Travis is an up-and-coming amateur boxer on the verge of the big time. Jacko is his coach, mentor and best friend. As they prepare for the big fight that will take them from nowhere to the somewhere of unlimited booze and women, it comes out that Travis experiences sexual arousal in the ring, a fact disturbing to homophobic Jacko.
As The Guardian said of the play when it was first performed: "Homosexuality, as far as mainstream theatre is concerned, does not break out in the working classes – and certainly not into sport. Cock And Bull Story... convincingly dares to shatter these myths of class and masculinity. The play's interest lies in the way it deals with contemporary working-class attitudes to gayness and how gay-bashing is still recognised as a legitimate response."
In this new production from emeraldBLUE, directed by Liam Rudden, the world of Rocky Balboa collides with all the raw energy of TV's Shameless in a two-hander that never pulls its punches.
