Brunton Theatre presented Dick McWhittington, written and directed by Liam Rudden from 25 November to 30 December 2006.
Set in and around Musselburgh and East Lothian, Dick McWhittington is based on the traditional tale of London's most famous Lord Mayor.
In Cockenzie, Widow Campie, Dick's mum, runs the local bakery, but she can't make enough cakes to pay the rent. So Dick sets off to town to make his fortune.
In Musselburgh, Councillor Fitzwarren has a surprise for his daughter Alice as she prepares for her birthday.
When Alice and Dick meet it's love at first sight...but deep beneath the streets of Musselburgh King Rat has other plans for Alice - he intends to make her his bride!
Can Dick save Alice from the clutches of the evil tyrant? Can he make his fortune and save the family bakery?
With the help of his faithful cat, Dom - maybe he can!
Dick McWhittington gives a Scottish spin to the traditional tale. |
